Now that you are driving around one of the most beautiful cities in the nation, you should stop at a few of the more popular attractions Philadelphia has to offer. There are four particular places the citizens and tourists of Philadelphia love to experience. The city of brotherly love has one of the country's most prized landmarks, and a love for their sports teams that only a few cities can compare to.

The Liberty Bell
Located on Market Street, this landmark can be viewed all year round. Audio information on the bell is always playing and is offered in 16 different languages. Because the tourism season changes the hours of operation, a viewing area is open to the public after hours during these times.

Interesting facts about the Liberty Bell:

  • Built in 1753 out of metal from a bell originally sent from England
  • In 1846, a crack altered the bell's sound
  • After repair the Bell rang for George Washington's birthday but cracked again
  • Has never been used since
  • No evidence as to why the Bell cracked either time
  • Weighs roughly 2000 lbs
  • It is believed that it still hangs from its original yoke

The Brotherly Love of Sport

Philadelphia 76ersPhiladelphia 76ers
Drive up to the First Union Center to watch "The Answer" Allen Iverson, and the rest of the 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association. The new state-of-the-art arena has as much entertainment in and around the building as it does on the court. This is an experience all basketball lovers should experience.

Philadelphia EaglesPhiladelphia Eagles
If you are in Philadelphia during football season, remember to bring your parka. Go ahead and play in the snow, but you will probably be too busy watching the National Football League play at Lincoln Financial Field, the Home of the Eagles. This brand new stadium is more fan-friendly than its predecessor and allows you to get the full NFL experience in a more comfortable atmosphere (unless you are cheering against the Eagles).

Philadelphia FlyersPhiladelphia Flyers
If you are a hockey fan, you can enjoy the hard-hitting action of the National Hockey League. Watch some of America's superstars, like Jeremy Roenick, play alongside some of the best hockey players in the world. Philadelphia's pride for their sports teams is very apparent at these games. You don't have to look much further than the Flyers manager, Bobby Clarke, to find out why.
