The Philadelphia Flyers joined the NHL in 1967, and on October 11th of that year the team played their first game against California. They unfortunalty were not victorious, but only a week later they would win their first game 2-1 over St.Louis Blues. Although this win looked promising, it would not be until 1974 that the Flyers would win thier first Stanley Cup. They went on the next year to take the Cup yet again. In 1979 the Flyers tied the record of most consecutive wins, which at that time was 28.
