Aroostook County
Aroostook is Maine's largest and most northern count, where you will find a large number of natural, cultural and recreational activities. Here you can bike amongst fields of potato blossoms; canoe and fish in one of the area's 2000 lakes, rivers and streams; hike along glorious wooded trails; or cross-country ski and snowmobile through the beautiful winter landscape. While in the area you can join in some of the many festivals and fair that celebrate the agrarian roots and the Acadian heritage that still lives in the area today.

Downeast & Acadia
Here you can discover everything from erratic glacials in Acadia National Park to dramatic tides of Cobsscook and Passamaquoddy Bays. You will be able to explore villages full of American History. There is so much to see and do, from natural wonders and lighthouses, to shopping and dining. The coast offers whale watching, puffin watching and sea kayaking, as well as exceptional canoeing, fishing and hunting opportunities. Hike, bike, climb, relax by the water's edge or explore the nooks and crannies of DownEast Acadia.

Greater Portland & Casco Bay
Greater Portland is a four-season destination in southern Maine that offers beautiful scenery and fabulous recreational opportunities. This region is the metropolitan area of Maine and in sits right on the gorgeous Casco Bay, which happens to be the home of many historic ports and lighthouses. The waterfront is always alive with activity including fisherman and ferries; sightseeing cruises and pleasure boats; restaurants and shops. is surrounded by classic New England villages, wide sandy beaches and Freeport, and is home of renowned L.L. Kennebec & Moose River Valleys
Upper Kennebec and Moose River Valleys is an area known for outstanding outdoor recreation. The area offers countless opportunities for hiking, bicycling, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, hunting, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and fall foliage viewing. The region starts in Augusta, which is the home of the Maine State Museum and historic Ft. Western, and follows the mighty Kennebec River and scenic Rt. 201 through Waterville (Redington Museum and Colby College), Skowhegan (Margaret Chase Smith Library and Lake George Park), The Forks (the center for whitewater rafting), and Jackman, a major snowmobiling center.

Maine Lakes & Mountains
The lakes and mountains of Western Maine offer four very different seasons that unfold in a blaze of color. The colorful wildflowers of spring and the bright sunlit hillsides of summer, the brilliant fall foliage, and the stunning white of winter make for a very beautiful visit no matter what time of year. You can enjoy all types of water sports on the lakes and rivers, as well as cycling, hiking, camping, golfing, alpine skiing, and snowmobiling in the mountains. Keep a look out for the wildlife, including loons and moose, and make sure to visit the local artisans and museums.

Mid-Coast
Along the Mid-Coast, you will find seaside resorts, charming villages, glacier-carved peninsulas, and grand panoramas. For the day; go antiquing, attend a country auction, browse irresistible shops, visit a museum, or see a play or concert. Southern Maine Coast
Southern Maine Coast is known for the breathtaking coastal scenery, broad beaches of pure white sand, and quaint, picturesque New England villages. Here you will find the historic towns of Kittery, The Yorks, Wells, Ogunquit, The Kennebunks, and Old Orchard Beach. You can feast on fresh lobster while dining at one of the many fine restaurants or inns; explore classic lighthouses, secluded harbors and rocky shorelines, or shop at the Kittery Outlets, antique shops or local boutiques.

The Maine Highlands
Here you will find the most plentiful moose and deer in Maine and more parkland than anywhere else in the state, including the 200,000-acre Baxter State Park; Moosehead Lake, the largest in the Northeast; and mile-high Mt. Katahdin, the tallest peak in Maine. There is outstanding whitewater rafting on the Penobscot and Kennebec Rivers, which are Maine's prime rafting areas. There are all types of outdoor recreation to enjoy, from canoeing/kayaking and camping to snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing. The Maine Highlands is also home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the east.
